The City of Dawson recognizes the issue of dogs running at large. It is an offence under the Animal Control Bylaw to allow your pet to roam freely about the community. Our Bylaw Officer conducts regular patrols at varying times but cannot be everywhere at the same time. The most effective way to alleviate this situation is for you, the community member to report dogs seen running at large. You may report at dog at large by calling the City office at 993-7400. If you call after hours you are requested to leave a message including as much of the information listed below as possible or you may email your report to the Bylaw Officer. Remember, if you wish the Bylaw Officer to call you back you need to leave your phone number. Reports may be made anonymously.
The Bylaw Officer requires as much of the following information as possible:
· Colour and any distinguishing markings
· Breed
· Size – estimated height at the shoulder
· Date, time and location seen running at large
· Dog’s name and / or owner’s name
· Tag number
· Photos may be emailed.
Thanks for helping to make our community safe
